10/4/07: Hixson 2 Alcoa 2: We scored first with a goal by Lydia assisted by Jenna. The second goal of the match was also by Hixson – Becca off an Andria assist. Alcoa answered back with two goals of their own late in the first half both by Shericka Wilson. The teams went into halftime tied at 2-2. The second half saw great defense by both teams, and several chances for scores. We out shot Alcoa 29 – 9. Blair recorded 5 saves in goal.
10/2/07: Hixson 1 Notre Dame 5: Good effort against the number 1 A/AA team in the state. We went into halftime tied 1-1 on Becca's 18th goal of the season. Came out in the second half with the same offensive oriented lineup we started with. Continued good play was finally worn down by the opposition's depth.
Can't believe the regular season is almost over. Only one more match remains. Great team, quality players, the best year Hixson has had in a long time!
9/27/07: Hixson 0 McMinn County 0: Good, hard fought match by both teams. Very close the entire time. Shots were 10 for us and 6 for them. Once again an outstanding performance by what is clearly one of the very best defensive units around. Andria and Lydia had strong play in the middle with support from Abby, Amanda, Courtney, Olivia, Revathi. Becca was solid in the middle forward position.....Ok, OK, if I have left anyone out, I apologize, everyone played a tremendous match and you should all be proud of your effort, I certainly am.
9/25/07: Hixson 2 Sweetwater 1: Both Hixson scores were by Rebecca Kent. Courtney Miller had an assist. We out shot them 34 to 7.
9/24/07: Hixson 3 Oneida 0: Fifth shutout in a row, seventh of the season. Becca scored off an Andria corner with 7:48 remaining in the first half. In the second half, Coretta served up two nice assists. One to Lydia with 13:28 remaining and one to Becca at the 1:30 mark. Blair had six saves in goal for Hixson and was backed up by outstanding defense lead by Monica, Kathleen and Jenna. Shots were 31 to 19 in our favor. Great effort against a very physical team.
9/20/07: Hixson 7 Rhea County 0: Fourth shutout in a row, sixth of the season. Pretty good defense, huh? Andria had the Hat-Trick (3 goals), Lydia got 2, Jenna got 1 and Becca got 1. Becca also got 2 assists, Jenna and Blair each got an assist. Blair and Allison combined in goal for the shutout. A lot of quality minutes on the field by everyone. Great match Ladies!!!!! Keep it up!!!!!
9/18/07: Hixson 4 Silverdale Baptist 0: Another shutout!!! We had 23 shots to their 4. Great defense kept Blair bored most of the evening. Andria scored twice, Kathleen and Becca each scored a goal. Jenna had an assist.
9/17/07: by Teresa (guest reporter) Hixson 3 Bradley Central 0: (big fat goose egg) What a shutout!!! Great control of the ball. Beautiful goal from Andria on the free kick. Great goals from Lydia and Becca. Andria two assists. Outstanding game and the best hustle all season by everyone. Keep it up for the rest of the season. Good job ladies.
Also, Jeff says he is happy we were able to help "...prepare them for tougher teams....". Quote by Bradley Central coach Chrissy McKinney in the Cleveland Banner on 9/14/07 “I’m a little concerned for some health reasons, McKinney said. We have a couple of girls that are banged up. Next week will push us to the limit, but I think we need weeks like this so that we can dig deeper and prepare for tougher teams down the road.”
9/13/07: Hixson 0 CCS 0: One of our best efforts of the year. Great play from everyone..... Blair had 14 saves, Olivia had one (maybe two); and Monica, Kathleen and Jenna were awesome in defense. We held the number 5 team in the state to a scoreless tie!!!
9/11/07: Hixson 0, Ooltewah 4: Blair had 6 saves and 12 stops. Monica, Kathleen and Jenna had a very busy night on defense. Ooltewah had 18 shots to our 4.
9/6/07: Hixson 2 McMinn Central 2: Scores by Becca with an assist from Kathleen, and by Lydia with an assist from Andria. Blair had 6 saves. We out shot them 26 to 12. Monica, Andria and Jenna had strong defensive games.
9/4/07: A very well played match against a AAA opponent on the road. Hixson 3 Red Bank 0. Rebecca got her goal in the first half off of an assist from Monica. In the second half, Lydia scored from an Olivia assist and Andria scored unassisted. Monica, Jenna, Olivia and Shadai had very solid play in defense. Blair recorded 8 saves with one in particular being very challenging. There also was some beautiful passing/ball handing in the middle by Andria and Monica. Great effort by everyone!!!!
8/30/07: A tremendous recovery from Tuesday's match!! Tonight we faced off against a very physical Central team. The girls were encouraged to attack hard and often. They took this advice to heart and provided a dominating 42-8 shot advantage. Now if we can just get a few more of those shots in the net........ Kathleen gave us a 1-0 lead scoring off Andria's corner 5 minutes into the match. A fast Central forward snuck by for a tying goal late in the half, and we went into the break 1-1. After some inspirational words from the coaches, Becca quickly scored (3 minutes into the second half). We continued to mount multiple attacks and Becca scored again with 7 minutes remaining. Great match by everyone!
8/28/07: A hard fought and disappointing loss to Boyd Buchanan 3- 2. We jumped out to a 1 goal lead on a score by Becca with an assist from Andria. This held up until about 10 seconds remained in the half. Boyd got the benefit of a fortunate bounce of off our players to angle a score away from Blair to tie the match at halftime. We gave up two goals in the second half before we mounted numerous serious attacks. Andria scored our 2nd goal with 5:42 left in the match. Several more very good opportunities just missed the net. We out-shot Boyd 28 to 15.

8/23/07: Another great match and a tremendous start for the season. Tonight, in a match shortened to 30 minute halves due to the heat, your Lady wildcats dominated play and cruised to a three to zero victory over East Ridge. The halftime score was 3-0 and every member of the team played. Blair and Allison combined in goal for the shutout. Becca scored twice and Lydia once for our three points all in the first half. Assists were by Andria and Kathleen. Tremendous defense and strong attacks kept the play in East Ridge's half of the field. Great match, Ladies!!!
8/22/07: Started the season on a VERY hot day in Lincoln County against a much improved opponent. Took the first half to get used to the heat and the opponent, but Becca staked us to a 1-0 lead. After the half, we seemed to remember how to play and consistently played in their half of the field. Becca added two more goals (hat trick!) and Kathleen scored one. Several really good chances just missed to keep Abby, Lydia and Andria off the board - but GREAT attacking effort!!! The entire team played very well. Monica and Olivia shined on defense with first year starter Shadai making strong contributions. Andria and Jenna anchored the midfield in a manner that will make a lot of our opponents unhappy this year. GREAT MATCH!!!!

THANK YOU
to all our sponsors, volunteers and players who made the
First Annual Lady Wildcats Golf Tournament
a great success, and congratulations to the winning team Dale Pate, James Leeth Jr, James Leeth Sr, and Tom Moore shown here with members of the soccer team (click on picture to enlarge).
10/3/06: Notre Dame (11-0-3, #1 ranked A-AA in State) came visiting tonight. By half time they knew they were in for a fight. ND carried a slim 1 goal lead at half. Outstanding defensive play was the hallmark of the Hixson effort all night. Monica had a season match high of 41 stops, and was supported by aggressive play by Kathleen, Charity, Olivia and Revathi. Abby, Amanda and Courtney effectively rotated in to keep fresh legs on Notre Dame's speed position. This all set the stage for a second half direct kick by Andria from almost midfield. She drove a high hard ball to the top of the net, and through/over the outstretched arms of the Notre Dame goalie. 1 - 1. The match flowed back and forth with several strong Notre Dame attacks turned back by Hixson defense. Blair made 10 saves and one very strong save late in the match to preserve the tie. Outstanding match! I know the team learned tonight just how good they are, and how good they can be CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!
9/21/06: You know the old saying "it's not whether you win or lose, it's how you play the game". Your Lady Wildcats made me believe that tonight. What a match! Grace scores in the first half and holds on for a 1-0 lead at halftime. We come out aggressive in the second half and make several strong attacks, before Abby makes the great pass to Becca who takes the ball around the right side and scores to tie the match. The match goes back and forth until there is less than 10 minutes remaining. Grace sneaks a shot in. We respond with several more attacks, but are unable to get the equalizer. Yeah, they got one more goal than us, but they had no more heart, no more effort. No Wildcat left the field who was not exhausted. We gave our all, we played our hearts out. I am so proud to be even a small part of this TEAM. Congratulations Lady Wildcats, you win some, you lose some, you can't always control the outcome; but you did control the thing you could, you gave 100%. That also defines winners.
9/14/06: Hixson defeated Sequoyah tonight 7 - 1. Danielle scored 3 goals, Andria had 2, Kathleen and Lydia 1 each. Charity and Kathleen each had 2 assists with Becca and Andria getting 1 each. Blair had 3 saves and a shutout in the first half. Allison played in goal the second half making several stops, 3 saves and giving up only one goal. The defense was excellent all night - Monica, Charity, Becca, Olivia, Revathi all had numerous key stops - with midfield defensive help from Andria and Lydia. Great Match!!!
9/12/06: Hixson defeated Central tonight 2 - 0 in the rain on a slow, wet field at Central. Two first half goals (one by Danielle - assist by Andria and one by Kathleen - assisted by Becca) proved to be the matches only scores. Blair got to touch the ball a couple of times, but the defense prevented any real threats.
9/7/06: Hixson battled Red Bank tonight to a hard fought 1 - 0 victory. Danielle's score off of a Revathi assist in the first half held up for the win. Blair recorded her 4th shutout of the season and made 7 saves in goal. Making numerous defensive stops in front of Blair was Monica, Becca, Olivia and Charity. This was such a team effort that is impossible/unfair to really single out individuals. Congratulations to everyone!! Your Lady Wildcats are now 5 - 2 for the season.
9/5/06: Hixson traveled to Athens tonight for a regional soccer match against McMinn Central. Hixson scored a 5 - 0 victory with Blair Kent recording her third shutout of the season. Monica Lindsey, Charity Glass, Rebecca Kent and Olivia Swafford had outstanding nights on defense. The half time score was 1-0 on a goal by Danielle Barr. During the second half, Danielle scored her second goal with additional goals by Kathleen Kent, Lydia Gennett and Amanda Starnes. Andria Aurand had 3 assists, with Olivia Swafford and Kathleen Kent adding one each. Hixson took 23 shots to McMinn Central's 10. Hixson improves to 4 - 2 on the season. Next match is Red Bank at Hixson on Thursday - 6:30 pm.
7/20/06: Our annual soccer banquet will be held on Tuesday Oct 24th at the Blue Ribbon Cafe in Soddy Daisy. Please mark your calendars as this is earlier than last year. 8/31/06: Hixson 2 CSAS 0. Another shutout for Blair and the defensive unit. Monica, Becca, Danielle, Charity, Kathleen, Rev and Olivia all played stellar defensive minutes. At half time, the lineup was shuffled, and Danielle scored both second half goals with assists from Andria and Lydia. We took 44 shots with 22 of them being "on-goal". Blair had 4 saves in goal. Great work against an improved CSAS team. Monica made 23 defensive stops followed by Becca with 14, Danie and Charity with 10 each.
8/29/06: Hixson 8 East Ridge 0 . Scores by Danny (2), Kathleen (2), Andria (2), Courtney (1) and Rebecca (1). Assists by Kathleen (2), Andria (1) and Rebecca (1). Allison stopped East Ridge's only shot for a save. We took 64 shots with 21 of them being "on-goal".
8/28/06: Great effort against a strong class AAA Soddy Daisy team. Blair recorded 5 saves and the defense (Monica, Kathleen, Charity, Olivia and Danny) turned back numerous attacks. We made 7 shots with 3 of them "on-goal". Congratulations on a hard-fought match. (Hixson 0 Soddy 2)

8/10/06: Players & Parents,
I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Danielle Barr, and Lydia Gennett for being voted team captains by their peers on Tuesday. In all the years I have been involved in Hixson Soccer this was the closet vote I have ever seen, which shows that there is several girls on this team who are capable of being excellent captains as I know Danielle and Lydia will be. I know the team will support Danielle and Lydia as they lead us through this season. Again congratulations.

5/12/06: Parents/Players, I spoke with the head coach at MTSU today. He is holding a spot for us and is expecting us. He also wanted to know how many were planning to attend. The minimum for the team camp is 12 players, so we need to get started on this and make sure everyone gets registered. I know we are still raising money, but if you could, please let me know if you are planning on going so I can give him some kind of number. Also, remember you don't have to wait for everybody else to register. Feel free to register online at any time.
Also, I am finalizing the conditioning schedule and will have that out to everybody by the end of next week.
Hope the end of the year is going well for everybody. Jeff and I are really looking forward to a great summer and an even better season!
If you have any questions, please let me know.
Thanks for all you do,

5/11/06: We will be cleaning up the soccer field on Monday May 15th after school. There is a lot of trash under the bleachers and on the field. Anyone that can stay after school on Monday is invited to help. I will provide trash bags. The field already needs mowing and weed eating. Anyone that has a riding lawn mower and is willing to help mow please call me. We will make arrangements to pick up the mower on a trailer and deliver back home. My husband is willing to mow, however, our lawn mower is small and it will take approx 4 hours to cut alone. We will hold a carwash on Saturday June 24th at the First Volunteer bank on Hixson Pike near the mall. Hours are 11am to approx 1pm. Money raised will be used to defer camp expenses for those participating. I will provide buckets, soap, and water hose. Everyone is encouraged to bring cleaning rags. Please let me know you can attend. Thanks, Gina Kent 595-9512
